Official Job Description
The National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) is an IRS approved 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. NFTE teaches entrepreneurship education programs to young people from low-income communities.
NFTE’s strategy for achieving this mission is to form partnerships with schools, universities and community-based organizations, create innovative experiential curricula, train and support teachers and youth workers, and provide supportive alumni services. Since its founding in 1987, NFTE has reached over 185,000 students. NFTE has active programs in 21 states and 14 countries.
Position
The Database Associate will primarily be responsible for the timely entry and acknowledgement of all donations, maintaining gift files, generating mailing lists and donor recognition reports, entering and updating constituent records, and creating gift reports for development and accounting staff. This position will work closely with the Database Manager to assist in the effective and efficient use of the Raiser’s Edge database. Attention to detail is a must.
Responsibilities
Gift Processing
• Enter gifts in a timely manner
• Generate acknowledgements and receipts through RE Mail
• Monitor online giving
• Maintain gift files
• Set-up new campaigns, funds and appeals as needed
• Generate gift reports
• Reconcile gifts with Accounting Dept.
Database Services
• Enter new records through batch or import
• Update and maintain existing records
• Maintain local and national board rosters
• Generate mailing lists
• Create donor listing reports for NFTE publications and materials
• Prepare simple queries, exports and reports
• Assist with database clean-up as needed
• Provide Raiser’s Edge support to NFTE staff
Other
• Help with in-house mailings
• Administrative support as needed for NFTE Headquarter’s Development Department
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree
• Experience working directly with Raiser’s Edge or a similar database
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills including but not limited to: strong written and oral communications skills, excellent organizational skills, ability to handle multiple tasks, and to work to deadlines.
• Detail-oriented
• Ability to effectively manage time and work well under pressure
• Capacity to deal with ambiguity.
Position reports to the Database Manager.
Salary: Competitive, plus a potential for an annual performance bonus. Comprehensive benefits. No relocation expenses will be provided.
