Alper Family Foundation Awards for Volunteerism Presented Last Night

NFTE’s annual Global Showcase brings together members of the NFTE community from across the world. Students and teachers as well as program alumni, volunteers and sponsors. With representatives from nine different countries participating, it’s truly a global celebration.

This year, one of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of the Alper Family Foundation Awards for Volunteerism. Patti Alper, a trustee of the Alper Family Foundation and a NFTE board member, was on hand to personally recognize the winners.

Stuart Halpert     Stuart Halpert, 2018 Individual Volunteer of the Year

Stuart Halpert, Chairman Emeritus and Senior Advisor at First Washington Realty, was among those honored last night. Stuart received the 2018 Individual Volunteerism Award for his deep commitment to youth entrepreneurship and his invaluable contributions as a classroom mentor and coach.

As a volunteer in South Florida for more than six years, Stuart has served as a guest speaker, competition judge and business coach. He also recently spearheaded the effort to expand NFTE programs to Palm Beach County, and is currently a business coach with two NFTE classes in that region.

Stuart often stops by the schools to meet with teachers and discuss ways he can be more involved. He truly embraces the chances he gets to connect with all NFTE students, not just those he will be coaching.

In addition to donating his time, Stuart also invests in NFTE and the entrepreneurial spirit through financial commitments, as the adopter of a Palm Beach County class. He also dedicates his time to helping the Future Business Leaders of America program at the school whenever he has a chance, and is so involved with various business programs that the Magnet Coordinator knows him by name.

Stuart not only makes a difference in the lives of young NFTE entrepreneurs, but also those of students who are interested in business but may not be able to join a NFTE class yet. His amazing dedication to community and his commitment to entrepreneurship education is an example for all our volunteers.
