Emerging Entrepreneur

Ricardo A. Garcia Salcedo
Centro Capacitador de Jovenes Emprendedores
Irapuato, Mexico

"We plan to offer an innovative, experiential curriculum for educators and youth interested in becoming self-employed in Mexico."

Ricardo Garcia participated in the NFTE program in the San Francisco Bay area in 1993, and was named a young entrepreneur of the year in 1999. Since that time he has launched two hip hop magazines, including the Latino hip hop magazine, Vosotros. Currently Ricardo has an Internet café in Tijuana, Mexico.

Ricardo plans to offer entrepreneurship courses at a small business center in Irapuato, Mexico, called the Centro Capacitador de Jovenes Emprendedores.

He sees a need for entrepreneurship education among young people who have dropped out of school in Mexico and housewives who want to start small businesses from their homes. The business center will offer classes, a computer lab and educational materials for sale.
