We Offer a Variety of Exciting Volunteer Opportunities
Our volunteers help young people connect classroom learning to real-life experiences. To help volunteers excel in their service roles, we provide ongoing orientation, training, and support throughout their assignments. We also inform our volunteers of networking opportunities and honor them through recognition award events.
We offer the following four principal volunteer positions at our local program offices. Contact a local program office to find out about additional opportunities (select the program office from the pull-down menu on the right).
Business Plan Coach
Commitment: 3–4 months for approx. 4 hours per session
The business plan coach advises students on how to improve their business plans. Through one-on-one and small-group sessions in
a NFTE classroom or community-based organization setting, the coach assists students with developing their ideas fully, focusing on the areas they have difficulty understanding or articulating, and helping them to present their ideas before an audience and a panel of judges.
Business Plan Competition Judge
Commitment: 1 day for approx. 3 hours
The culminating event of every NFTE program is a competition. Through this opportunity, students present their business plans before an audience and a panel of volunteer judges. Judges listen, ask questions, and evaluate each presentation. Judges are entrepreneurs and business professionals, who offer students a realistic perspective of their business plans. Judges are needed for individual classroom competitions, and citywide
