The Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship’s World Series of Innovation, presented by Microsoft, is a fun, experiential classroom activity that allows students to think creatively and invent new products or services that address every-day opportunities. Start off the school year right! Inspire creativity and innovation and have a chance to win great prizes.
Each team of at least two (2) students will select one of our many innovation challenges at their level (middle school, high school, and college) and come up with a new, unique, innovative product or service to address that market niche. Show us how the product or service will impact people’s lives on a day to day basis and how you will get the word out about your great new innovation.
All student teams should be encouraged to participate actively since the project is intended to increase teamwork among classmates. Participants and teachers will be able to download a set of classroom activities designed to encourage creativity and innovation in preparation for the challenge. Students may participate in larger groups if they prefer, so long as there are a minimum of two (2) students per group. The Toolkit contains a set of activities designed to encourage creativity and innovation in preparation for the challenge. NFTE recommends using the equivalent of at least two full classroom periods (or 90 minutes) to prepare for the challenge and two full periods(another 90 minutes) for brainstorming and completing the submission form.
Submissions from any country will be accepted, however submissions can only be accepted in English.
The categories for the innovation challenge in 2012 will be announced in mid-August, with separate toolkits describing and supporting your work on the different challenge levels. Challenge categories will be available at the middle school, high school, and college levels.
There will be two winning teams per category: One chosen by our elite judges from the sponsoring organization, and one chosen by popular vote through our online voting platform.
The winning students will receive prize packages from this year’s sponsors and their sponsoring classrooms, schools or youth groups will receive grants of $2500 from the sponsors and NFTE. If a winning student team is not affiliated with a school or non-profit youth serving organization, the $2500 grant will be donated to a school or non-profit of their choice.
